Allerton House Post Production

The Team

Matthew will review the needs of each project on an individual basis, then pool together a team of the best freelancers in the business, tailored to your specific requirements and budget. Some of our regular team members and collaborators are detailed here.  If you have any specific personel requests for your team, perhaps someone you've worked with before, we're very happy to work with them and accomodate your wishes.

Matthew Gough

After graduating from the rigorous and intensive four year Tonmeister course, Matthew worked as a classical music engineer/producer for big labels such as Decca, DG, EMI, and many other smaller labels.  Early on however, he discovered a natural talent for film sound and moved into post production sound for picture, beginning at Boom Ltd working with Paul Hamblin.

He soon moved to De Lane Lea, where he rapidly gained experience and a reputation working on some of the highest-profile projects in the country at the time. It was whilst at De Lane Lea that he received a nomination for a British Academy Award for his work with Walter Murch and Mike Prestwood-Smith on Cold Mountain.

In the spring of 2005 he left De Lane Lea to pursue a freelance career as a re-recording mixer, Sound Supervisor and Director of Sound.

Matthew has a well-established track record as an effects mixer on large-scale Hollywood films (The Brothers GrimmHarry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanCold Mountain) and a growing reputation as lead mixer (including Anthony Minghella's Breaking and Entering, the critically-acclaimed Do I Love You? from independent film-maker Lisa Gornick and Making Waves from Eden Films). He also has experience mixing continuing drama, including regular blocks on BBC's Holby City, and the las three series of Kudos TV's MI-High.

A well-known face about town, he has practical experience in most of the major Soho dubbing theatres, as well as good connections with the non-central London based studios such as Pinewood-Shepperton, Anvil and Twickenham. He is also closely involved with smaller independent film companies, and uses the very latest equipment to provide a high-specification track-lay and 5.1 mix within the budget structure of these projects.

The Cats

We have two resident felines, Oscar (pictured) and Smudge, and all work gets approved by them.  Oscar is particularly involved with mixing, and considers it vital to sleep on my lap for most mixing processes, waking up to make comments every so often.
